This project is a retrofit of an existing parking lot undertaken in partnership by Washington State University and the City of Puyallup. It provides stormwater control while at the same time becoming a test facility that will enable the WSU researchers to measure the efficacy of pervious concrete to filter pollutants from the controlled stormwater. It is a wonderful example of a stormwater retrofit. The Center previously had no stormwater control or treatment infrastructure.
Researchers will be monitoring stormwater and affects of maintenance in the performance of the porous pavement. This data will help quantify the ability of pervious concrete to filter out pollutants.
